TOUCHDOWN CLUB OF HOUSTON'S 2008 EVENTS
HOUSTON TEXANS DRAFT LUNCHEON

The Texans will give their team awards, as voted by the players, to DeMeco Ryans (MVP), Fred Bennett (Rookie of the Year), Mark Bruener (Spirit of the Bull), Anthony Weaver (Ed Block Courage) and Ephraim Salaam (Media Friendly). The Greater Houston Pro Player of the Year is Donald Driver of Green Bay. The TD Club will give a Special Achievement Award to Lamar Consolidated running back Jacquizz Rodgers for setting the Texas state record with 136 career touchdowns. The Texans have given the TD Club 10 tables to sell as a fundraiser, which means the TD Club keeps all the money generated from tickets sales to those 10 tables.
Cost is $45 per ticket. Tables are $450, or $1,000 for a front-row table. All tables are 10 seats each.

It will be a Cajun Lovefest as LSU celebrates a national championship. Les Miles will talk about last season as well as this fall. Also speaking will be women's basketball coach Van Chancellor, who is worth the price of admission himself. LSU officials will bring the crystal national championship trophy so attendees can have their photos taken with the trophy. This is the only Texas stop of the Tiger Athletic Foundation's annual Tiger Tour. The TAF also will have a silent auction of memorabilia at the event, the proceeds of which all benefit LSU athletics.

Given since 1966, the Touchdowner of the Year is awarded this year to Brice Matthews. The plaque is given to someone for extraordinary contributions and outstanding achievements reflecting honor and sportsmanship to football over a lengthy period of time. The All-Greater Houston Preseason High School Football Team also will be presented.

We are expecting 1,000 people again this year when the TD Club's blue-ribbon panel high school coaches select the High School Player of the Year on offense and on defense. A blue-ribbon panel of high school athletic directors will select the Greater Houston High School Coach of the Year. The Club will give out the inaugural Ron Stone Achievement Award, which this year will go to Bob Leppke, owner of Pro Maxima and the company that helps the TD Club put weights and weight equipment into area high schools.
