The TD Club has awarded about $160,000 in scholarships over the past 11 years at this luncheon, at which 25 finalists will receive at least $500 toward college. Author Jim Dent will bring some of the original Junction Boys from Texas A&M to discuss the book he wrote about them and their travails. Dent also will discuss his latest book on the late Freddie Steinmark, a UT safety who lost his leg during his senior season for the Longhorns in 1969.

The area high school football programs are judged by the football chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials -- the refs -- at each contest. The results are tabulated and the top programs are invited to see who will win the TD Club's Sportsmanship Trophy.
